My 2018 Goals
I think I set my ambitions a little too high last year when it came to my personal goals. I think I failed in almost every category I had set. Here’s what my goals were at the beginning of 2017:
-Read my Scriptures/Conference talks for at least 5 minutes a day. I did pretty good at this towards the end of the year.
-Attend the temple (with or without Chase) at least 10 times. I attended at least 3.
-Fulfill my Visiting Teaching each month (something I constantly struggle with). I did complete this!
-Sign up for 1-marathon, 1-half marathon, 1-10k and 1-5k to complete by the end of 2017. I ran 3 5k’s, and almost 6 miles by the end of the year.
-Stick with strength training/Barre at least 3 times a week. Too big of a task for me especially with becoming a new mom.
-Do some sort of cardio activity at least 3 times a week. Again this was too big of a task for me to complete along with the other responsibilities that I am over.
-Do an activity/Date night we both enjoy once a month. For the most part we made sure to go out at least once a month, though we didn’t take a photo or document it. That would have been a good idea though.
-Being okay with asking for help from Chase (this is an ongoing one that I need to continue to do). I’m always striving to be okay with letting Chase help me, some days are easy other days are hard.
-Have a better and more meaningful relationship with Chase (this is ongoing). Always trying to do this.
-Read/Listen to 5 books. I read, “Love Your Life, Not Theirs” by Rachel Cruze, I read and almost finished “Strong Mothers, Strong Sons” by Dr. Meg Meeker. “Becoming a Calm Mom” by Dr. Deborah Ledley.
-Be in the present and stop focusing on the “what if’s” and the future. Something I am always striving for.
-Write in my journal at least once per month. I wrote in my journal at least 4 or 5 times this year. I started keeping a “Kason Growing” note in the notes app on my phone. I will eventually write them in another journal, but for now that has been the quickest and easiest thing to do.
Because I felt like not too many people were into my personal goals last year, I’m only going to share my 2018 running and health related goals.
Here are my 2018 running and health related goals:
- Take care of my body. This means eating right and being mindful about what I’m putting in my body. I think I will talk more about that at a later time (a live video down the road).
- Getting a sub 2 hour half marathon. I’m going to be working and staying accountable with another runner friend who has the same goal.
- Strength train (including LOTS of squats) at least twice a week.
- Be in the here and now. I feel that this is extra important with a new little one around the house.
- Read 1 running related book.
